How organic (bio) is LAGO VISTA FARMS ?

Our animals on our farm are primarily pastured on our land and feed is custom selected feed from non sprayed farms. In our homestead we always make best efforts to purchase natural food that is not prepared. We make every effort to serve our own meats and eggs to our volunteers.

Do you have a covid-19 protocol ?

We follow our local health department protocol. We encourage our guest to be cautious when travelling into metropolitan cities which tend to have higher cases of covid.

Do you have a dedicated area if a quarantine is required ?

We have a separate area designated as a quarantine area with sleeping, shower, food prep and entertainment in the event of a volunteer not feeling well.

Do I need special skills to volunteer on the farm ?

Minimal experience required. Animal care is all about hands on along with a person showing you daily activities. We can also train you on skid steer which we use to move feed such as grain and bales of hay.

What kind of tasks are you expecting from a volunteer ?

No experience needed but we like to know if you can lift 35 kg. Our principal task itsso care for our animals which includes giving clean water, hay, grain... Observation of all animals is critical in the care of livestock. Once animal are cared for we do fencing, building shelters and repairs related to the farm or activities around our home.

How many hours a day will you expect ? How many days a week ?

Our farm is based on 30 hours per week at our farm and 5 hours of homestead in exchange for room and board. We work primarily 5 days a week Mon -Friday ( noon) with weekend off. Weekends are designed so you can travel and explore our beautiful province.

How long should I plan to stay?

We ask for a minimum 30 day stay as it takes several weeks to train you and help you to adjust to our culture.

Can I smoke on the farm ?

Our farm and home is non smoking/ vaping and drugs. Simple fire in a barn with straw can injure our animals and structures. As we are in the country our volunteers firefighters are great distance away.

What should I bring with me ?

We provide working clothing, winter coats, boost and wear to do the work on the farm so your clothing is not damaged during your travels in Canada.

What kind of accommodation will I be staying in ?

Our accommodation is shared but men and women have seperate rooms. We have shared washrooms. Our homestead is comfortable.

What kind of food is prepared?

We provide quality food which adhere to the Canadian food standards.

Are you a scent free environment ?

We are a scent free environment. Please refrain from using, wearing and bringing scented products like perfumes, colognes and other personal care products.
